About Us

Established in 1996, MedBest Medical Management, Inc. is affiliated with and supports the SUNY Upstate Medical University health system. We provide various administrative and educational services in support of Upstate’s mission, vision, and values. Today, we’ve grown to employ a total of over 800 employees to assist and guide medical professionals throughout Upstate and help effectively meet the challenges in a complex healthcare environment.

Nicolas Bonfardice

Director of Administration

Mr. Bonfardice joined MedBest Medical Management in 2022.  He has over 14 years progressive healthcare experience supporting organizational finance, human resource, risk and regulatory strategies and workflows.  Prior to joining MedBest, Mr. Bonfardice served as Director, Practice Administration with The Guthrie Clinic, and previously held senior operational roles with Mission Autism Clinics, and Aspen Dental Management, Inc.

Mr. Bonfardice achieved a B.S in Marketing Management from Syracuse University and is an active member of the Medical Group Management Association.

Stephanie Goldberg headshot

Stephanie Goldberg

Director of Billing

Ms. Goldberg joined MedBest Medical Management in 2013 as a Financial Analyst.  She assumed the role of Director of Billing over 5 years ago and has over 25 years of experience in the medical billing field.  Ms. Goldberg is responsible for managing the revenue cycle for each of its clients.  She manages the daily operations of the billing department and works directly with the clients to support their needs.

Ms. Goldberg has a B.S. in Business Administration from SUNY Oswego.

Michael Lashway headshot

Michael Lashway

Director of Human Resources

Mr. Lashway joined MedBest Medical Management in 2022. He has over 20 years of experience spanning government, nonprofit and healthcare sectors.  Prior to joining MedBest Medical Management, Mr. Lashway served as Director of Human Resources at Associated Medical Professionals of NY, and previously held senior HR leadership roles at Cardinal Health, Housing Visions, and AlliedBarton Security.

Mr. Lashway has an M.S. in HR Management from Southern New Hampshire University and received a B.S. in Sociology and Criminal Justice from SUNY Brockport. Mr. Lashway also served in the United States Army.

Michael Mulcahey headshot

Michael Mulcahey

Director of Finance

Mr. Mulcahey joined the MedBest Medical Management Finance Team in 2020.  He has more than 29 years of accounting experience spanning multiple industries. Michael has spent time in public accounting, manufacturing, cable and utilities, as well as the last 10 years of his career in healthcare.  He is presently responsible for cash management, accounting operations and the completion of all financial reporting requirements for MedBestIn addition, Michael directs and supports the accounting needs for six clients. Mr. Mulcahey works extensively with outside auditing firms at year end on behalf of MedBest and our contracted clients.

Mr. Mulcahey holds a B.S in Accounting from the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Sadia Duquette headshot

Sadia Duquette

Director of Audit and Compliance

Ms. Duquette joined the compliance team at MedBest in 2016. She has over 15 years of experience in health care, with over 10 years of experience in professional services auditing. Her previous experience as a pharmacy technician, insurance claims processor, medical coder as well as the associate director of compliance adds to her large amount of knowledge.  Ms. Duquette is a member of the American Health Information Association and the American Academy of Professional Coders.

Ms. Duquette has a B.S. in Health Information Management and credentialed as a RHIA and CPC.
